How do I add, edit or remove a listing?

Residential Listings

We obtain our listing information from a broad variety of publicly available information sources and third party data suppliers. At this time, we are unable to add or edit residential listings directly on our website. We hope to be able to offer this service in the future.

To remove a residential listing, follow these instructions:

  • Search for the listing on our website
  • If your search includes multiple results, click "Listing Details" of the listing to be removed
  • Scroll down to the "privacy options" box and click, "Is this you? Remove your listing"
  • Note: Once you've removed a listing, you may choose to search on other names at that address to verify that all necessary listings have been removed.

Business and Government Listings

We obtain our listing information from a broad variety of publicly available information sources and third party data suppliers.

Business listings available via "Business Search" results are obtained from our business listing partners. To add a U.S. business listing, contact SuperPages.com. To add a Canadian business listing, contact 411.ca. The business listing will appear on our website in approximately 5-7 days.

Business listings available via "People Search", "Reverse Phone" and "Reverse Address" results originate from a broad variety of publicly available information sources and third party data suppliers.

At this time, we are unable to add or edit business listings directly on our website. We hope to be able to offer this service in the future.

To remove a business or government listing from "People Search", "Reverse Phone" and "Reverse Address" results, follow these instructions:

  • Search for the listing on our website
  • If your search includes multiple results, click "Listing Details" of the listing to be removed
  • Scroll down to the "privacy options" box and click, "Is this you? Remove your listing"

If this option is not available, contact customer support.


Where does WhitePages.com get its information?

We obtain our listing information from a broad variety of publicly available information sources and third party data suppliers. Business and government listings in "Business Search" results are provided by our business listings partners: SuperPages.com for U.S. listings and 411.ca for Canadian listings.


How often is listing information updated?

We are continually updating our information. Generally speaking, listing information on our website is 60-90 days old.


I have an unlisted number. Why do I show up on WhitePages.com?

We obtain our listing information from a broad variety of publicly available information sources and third party data suppliers.


Can I get a hard copy or CD of the WhitePages.com directory?

All of our directory assistance data is available exclusively online. As such, we do not distribute or sell hard-copy or CD versions of our directory. To obtain a copy of your local phone directory, contact your local telephone provider.


Can I download listings from your site to create mailing lists?
No. The information on our website is copyrighted and cannot be used for list generation purposes.

SEARCHING AND NAVIGATION

Can you help me find this listing?

All of our directory assistance tools are available exclusively online. To improve your search success, you can broaden your searches by entering fewer criteria. Here are a few tips:

People Search

  • Use the first few letters of a person's first name, rather than the entire name
  • Choose "Begins with" for wildcard searches on the first or last name
  • Try a nationwide directory search by entering only a first and last name

Business Search

  • Use the first few letters of the business name, rather than the entire name
  • Browse "Business Locators" to find business and government listings by category and location

Reverse Phone Directory

  • Enter a 10-digit phone number or a seven-digit number with the corresponding state or province

Reverse Address

  • Remove directional specifics; enter "123 Main", rather than "123 NW Main St."

Please note that apartment numbers and fax numbers are not provided and are not displayed.

How do I search for toll-free numbers?
Toll-free numbers can be found in the business listings section. Click on Business Search and search for a business via category (e.g. "coffee houses") or name (e.g. "Starbucks.") If available, toll-free numbers will be included in the business listing details.


How do I search for government listings?
Government listings can be found in the business listings section. Click on Business Search and enter the government office keyword. Include city, state/province or ZIP/postal code information and click "Search."


How do I search for international listings?
WhitePages.com provides directory assistance information for the United States and Canada only at this time. As a service to our international customers, we provide links to third-party directory assistance providers in our International Directories section.


How do I get more listings per search?
The specific number of listings returned varies by search type. If you receive "too many results," try adding more specific search criteria.

How do I add contacts to WhitePages.com Address Book?
There are three ways to build your WhitePages.com Address Book.

  1. Import your contacts from other popular address books such as Outlook, Outlook Express, Yahoo!, Netscape, Entourage, and Palm. Simply click the "Import/Export" button on the contacts Page and follow the simple steps. If you need assistance, click the "Help" link in the top right corner.
  2. You may add contacts one at a time by clicking the "Add" button within the Address Book.
  3. When you find a person or business after performing a People Search or Business Search, you may click the "Add to My Address Book" link next to the listing.

Will you sell or share my information?
Your privacy is very important to us. Your information will only be used in accordance with our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy.

How do I reset my username or password?
If you receive an error message stating that your email address or username is incorrect, it is likely that you have a typo in your email address. Please reenter your email address and password, making sure you are entering the email address exactly as you did when registering. If you continue to receive the error message, create a new account by filling in the "I am a new user" section (you may need to click the "Sign in as a different user" link first).

If you forgot your password, follow these step-by-step instructions:
  1. Click the "Login" link in the upper right-hand corner of our homepage:
  2. Make sure your Email Address/Username is correct and click "Forgot your password"
  3. Either enter the secret answer to your security question (if available) and jump to step 7. or select the "Email me a verification link" option and click "Submit."
  4. Close your web browser.
  5. We will send an email message to the address provided with a link to create a new password.
  6. Click the link to change your password. If you cannot click the link, copy-and-paste the link text into the address field of your web browser.
  7. Type your new password into the "New Password" field and type it again in the "Confirm New Password" field.
  8. Click "Submit."

Once these steps are completed, you will automatically be logged in to your WhitePages.com Account.

If you want to change your password, follow these step-by-step instructions:

  1. You must log in if you are not logged in already.
  2. Click the "Account" link in the top right corner.
  3. Click the "Change Password" button.
  4. Type your Current Password, your New Password and your New Password again to confirm. Click "Submit."
